About the Artist

Lukas Newman, B.Mus. (Performance), University of Toronto

Luke is a Saskatoon based drummer and musician who has lived in Calgary, Saskatoon and Toronto. 

He is an award winning top level solo pipe-band drummer, having studied with Kathy McPherson, John Fisher, and Reid Maxwell.  He has competed as a soloist and as part of pipe bands across North America and Scotland. 

He is an avid jazz drummer and has studied and performed with many acclaimed musicians such as Steve Wallace, Terry Clarke, Ernesto Cervini, Andrew Downing, Dave Young, Mike Murley and others.  He has performed in over 70 concerts at venues including The Bassment (Sasaktoon), the Yardbird Suite (Edmonton), The Rex (Toronto), the Emmett Ray (Toronto), the SaskTel International Jazz Festival and others.

Luke has recently moved home to Saskatoon to work and teach as a drummer / jazz musician in the City.
